Michigan's unemployment in line with nation

Michigan has an unemployment rate of 5.4%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is the same rate as the rest of the nation.

This is important because it marks the first time in almost 15 years that Michigan does not have an unemployment rate that is higher than national averages. Prior to this, the Great Lakes State has had an unemployment rates greater than the rest of the country for every month since the fall of 2000.

The question now is: is this the start of a trend for Michigan? Or is it a one-time fluctuation?

For that, we'll have to wait for the numbers next moth.
